Budget Beauty: I will pretty much buy anything Ellen is selling.

So I went to Target and nosed around and discovered Ellen's face plastered all over the Cover Girl section. And then I notice Olay has added treatment to CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Foundation ....and SOLD!
This stuff is pretty full coverage so make sure you get the right color. It also runs light. So if in doubt go with the deeper one. I am totally that person that opens foundation at Target. Sorry. I am gross.

I was really trying to avoid covering compacts this week and sticking to liquid, but CoverGirl Smoothers Aquasmooth Compact Foundation,  is really creamy and I liked it. And it was right next to the Ageless stuff.

Dang this shit is MOIST!!! I love it! CoverGirl Smoothers All-Day Hydrating Liquid Makeup tells me it will hydrate for 11 hours. Hell, if it works for 6 I am pleased as punch! I am a little concerned about the coverage but the texture is worth all $10.

Low maitnance/ high fashion

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 IS foundation. This does not replace your moisturizer. It has coverage even if it is sheer. It is perfect for the "I don't have time for makeup" or the "I hate foundation" people I surround myself with. Seriously guys, it isn't that hard. If you visit me, you know I sample this stuff.

It also come in Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer - Oil Free and Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer - Natural Radiance (as shown below.) Oil free colors do differ from their regular sisters and Illuminating only comes in three colors and should be mixed in with a regular tinted color for best results.

Sometimes the mass appeal sways me.

Everybody loves it. They don't really have a color I like for me and I swear my skin is too dry for it but people go batshit crazy for Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
It would be wrong to not include this behemoth of an award winner in Foundation Week. Ok, it's true. I kinda hate it, but how could sooo many artists be wrong?

The creme de la creme!

OH GOD THIS FOUNDATION SAVED MY LIFE!! When my skin was not ok.....red and covered with scales and dry spots I needed a foundation that would cover anything. Cle De Peau Cream Foundation
did just that. A full coverage makeup that looked like skin. A lot of pro artists use it on set to create perfected skin. It costs a shit ton of cash but one jar lasted me at least 5 months.

There are two formulations: above is the silky cream for dry skin in the square jar, below, for oily skin is the cream foundation with SPF 18 and comes in a round press-top jar.

My new boyfriend....

I've had to do some homework recently, and I have found Nars foundation to be awesome. They group the shades into Light Medium Med/Dark and Dark then number the levels within that group. Smart. Like, I am a Light 2, or Montblanc. Easy. They have three types of liquid foundation based on skin type and they have all have a buildable coverage.
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation
is for a normal to dry skin. An old buddy of mine pointed out that there is no pump on this formulation so I did some digging. Turns out they want you to apply it l1980's style; middle finger over opening, shake, then dot on face with said finger. No brushes allowed. Thus no pumpy pumpy.

NARS Firming Foundation Liquid is for more mature skin that wants some age control shit in there. It has some peptide nonsense that Shiseido labs came up with for Nars that increease collagen production. Skin will look less wrinkley and firmer. This one has a pump, but should still be applied with fingers.

Finally, for oily combination skin, NARS Sheer Matte Foundation should do the trick. Also, artist note: this is the one you want to use for HD camera jobs. Although I am still unclear about what makes HD makeup different. Will have to ask some probing questions.
