Big Winner

When you open your purse and touch up your eyeliner you want Dolce and Gabbana Black Eyeliner. It's chic and hard to get. It's also really dark black. You can transform from office drone to punk diva in one trip to the bathroom. Go to.

Oh God. My Friend Violet insists this is the only eyeliner you need.

Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow in Caviar. That's right. A powder as a eyeliner. Wet or dry.

Come to find out, these shadows were actually formulated to be liners. which is why they are hard to blend. In my mind, all dark shadows could fit the bill, but an expert friend gave me stink eye when I said that. Bobbi really made them this way.

I think all liners should be finished with a swipe of dark shadow but I rarely use them by themselves. Like I love Clinique Quickliner for Eyes which has liner and then a shadow smudger on the other end. Awesome.

Also Bobbi's color Caviar is awesome and can be purchased as a pencil, a shadow, and a gel liner.

Fine, Violet. Happy?

Laura Mercier gets her own day. Thanks, tightliner!

Every artist worth their salt lines inside the lashes as well as the top. But Laura designed the best thing to do it with. A drop of water creates a shoe polish consistency and makes Laura Mercier Eye Liner Black Ebony the perfect liner to put at the base of the lash.

A hint: use Laura Mercier Flat Eyeliner Brush loaded up with wet cake liner and lift your eyelid to apply. BUT instead of using the mirror above your sink or on your wall, use a smaller mirror on your counter top and your eye will naturally fall almost closed and lifting the lid won't be as awkward and you will be able to see in the mirror much better. PS I tried to do this without a mirror and nearly poked my eye out.. Beware.

In addition to cake liner Laura also makes awesome Kohl Eye Pencils. All the colors are black based and makes them colorful without being to outlandish. Excellent colors include:
Black Violet
Black Turquoise
Black Navy
Black Gold

Liners everyone thinks are too hard because they require a brush.

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner   will wear the longest, is waterproof and works in the waterline of the eye. But you have to use a brush. Get over it. Yes, it takes more time and yes, you have to practice to get it right but the results are bar none the best.

Oh hey, this is the brush you should use. Yes, it feels like a pitch when the Bobbi girl/gay says it has to be Bobbi, but what they mean is it has to be synthetic. If you use a natural hair brush it will gum up, be difficult to control,  and ruin your brush to boot. Bobbi made the brush specifically for the liner, so cough up.

EVERYONE HAS ONE: (but not as good, or way expensive)

Thanks for bringing back all these Liquid Liners, Amy Winehouse.

There are a lot of liquid liners in the world. And honestly, I haven't tried very many. I hate how messy and hard to handle they can be and some are so liquidy that there is hardly any pigment. I usually use a pot liner with a brush....but we'll get to that tomorrow. So, I was given an Armani Maestro Liquid liner. And I left it in the drawer. For a while. But one day, feeling a little bored with my routine, opened her up. DANG! I discovered and easy applicator and some dark black pigment I can place right in the root of my lashline. So easy. Throw all those cakey pens away. Plz and Thx.
